The author's use of language in these sentences affect the passage in that the informal language in "sore heads" and "pulled and j*rked" indicates the author experienced the same treatment as the patients, giving the passage a resigned tone.

After seeing how the other patients were treated in shock, the narrator seems to hope for a salvation from such experience, but eventually accepts what comes and has no other choice than to give up to the suffering.

What do we find out about society from Julia and Winston Smith’s discussion?
Triss [41]

In "1984" by George Orwell, during the discussion between Julia and Winston, we find out that the Party has control over society because they were able to keep people ignorant. Winston does not know what year it is, and the information changes so often that it is almost impossible to discover the truth. Also, Julia explains that the Party's puritanism allows the people to channel their anger and frustration towards anyone that opposes the Party.

allochka39001 [22]
Young schoolteacher Charles Edward Chipping (Robert Donat) imposes strict discipline on his young charges at a Victorian-era English public school, becoming a fearsome presence on the campus grounds. But the love of spirited young suffragette Katherine Ellis (Greer Garson) brings the Latin instructor out of his shell and makes him a beloved campus institution into the 20th century and through the shattering violence of World War I. The film is based on the best-selling novel by James Hilton.
