Marta_Voda [28]
Roger Williams was a man of integrity. He therefore stood with his principles. He was therefore adamant in his criticism and rejection of the Church of England. How did the invention of the railroads help pour immigrants from Eastern Europe
likoan [24]

The invention of the railroads helped pour immigrants from Eastern Europe.

The development of steamships reduced passage time from weeks to days, in the case of the fastest ships, while the expansion of railroads across Europe in the middle of the 1800s significantly reduced travel time to embarkation ports. The size of the ships also expanded; some of them could accommodate more than 1,000 immigrants in steerage. They had to go by the river to reach Hamburg, one of the major ports of the time, before the development of railroads. This was inconvenient and took a few days. About 30 million Europeans immigrated to the United States between 1815 and 1915. Travel across the country used to cost close to $1,000 before the Transcontinental Railroad was built. The cost significantly decreased once the railroad was finished.
