In September 1620, a merchant ship called The Mayflower set sell from Plymouth, a port on the southern coast of England. Normally, the mayflower's cargo was wine and dry goods, but on this trip the ship carried passengers : 102 of them, all hoping to start a new life on the other side of the Atlantic.
That's what the Pilgrims did in the year 1620, on a ship called Mayflower. Mayflower set sail from England in July 1620, but it had to turn back twice because Speedwell, the ship it was traveling with, leaked.
