What is the mood of the passage and why do you feel this way? The buffaloes are gone. And those who saw the buffaloes are gone.

Those who saw the buffaloes by thousands and how they pawed the prairie sod into dust with their hoofs, their great heads down pawing on in a great pageant of dusk, Those who saw the buffaloes are gone. And the buffaloes are gone.

The mood of the passage is sad and maybe even reflective because they are talking about how the buffalos no longer exist and the people who saw them are no longer alive or present which gives the idea that there is no longer presence of buffalos or those who were able to see them when they were still there.

What does the phrase “the scalding humor that erupted like bubbles in lye” suggest about Dee?
kherson [118]
This phrase suggests Dee is an abrasive, antagonistic character.

Walker makes this clear through this brief description of Dee. "Scalding" implies burning or blistering -- something hot and painful. "Lye" is a solution used for cleaning, one that causes painful burns if touched.

This brief description truly summarizes Dee's character: angry, abrasive, and antagonistic to her others, especially her family.
