The nickname for U.S. soldiers in WW1 was known as "doughboys". There are many explanations for the nickname for the soldiers but the most common was that their uniforms would be coated with dust, so that they looked like they were made out of dough, or perhaps of adobe.
Answer: large numbers of women were recruited into jobs vacated by men who had gone to fight in the war. New jobs were also created as part of the war effort, for example in munitions factories.
Explanation: Before the war women didnt have many right as men did. So after the war happend people started realizing it wasnt far and letting women work.
