Read the paragraph. The young family was excited about their Southwest adventure. They planned to hike the remote canyon all aft

ernoon. When they parked at the trail head and emerged from their air-conditioned car, the heat assaulted their senses. They squinted their eyes in surprise and remarked at the shimmering haze hovering over the canyon. A warm gust blew dusty air across the lot, and the would-be hikers turned their backs to the assault, blinking and coughing. Recovering quickly, the mother began applying sunscreen on her daughter’s warm shoulders. Her daughter looked up and asked, "May I have some water?" How will the setting most likely affect the plot? The remote location of the canyon will complicate communication. The warm temperatures will complicate the family’s hike. The hazy horizon will cause problems with visibility. The unclean conditions of the park will cause problems with hygiene.

Answer:

The warm temperatures will complicate the family’s hike.

Explanation:

Extreme heat can lead to dehydration and exhaustion. Also, if they do not protect themselves from the sun they can also get serious sunburns. They should carry a bottle of water each, maybe more if the hike is longer than a few miles.

Is this sentence correct?

You really talk niceLY.
lutik1710 [3]

The sentence is correct.

Here, "nicely" is serving as an adverb to give an information about the verb of the sentence ("talk"). Even though it comes from the adjective nice, which would modify a noun or a pronoun and not a verb, the addition of the suffix -ly makes it an adverb. That is why it works in this sentence.

Other examples could be:

 • quick - quickly
 • heavy - heavily
 • sot - softly
