The correct answer is - d. oceanic and continental plates converge.

Most of the volcanic activity appears on the places where a continental tectonic plates collides with an oceanic tectonic plate. When this two types of plates collide, a subduction zone is formed. That means that the heavier and denser oceanic plate is subducting (going bellow) the continental plate, and in the crack between them the pressure, high temperature, and magma from the mantle manage to push up towards the surface, thus creating volcanoes.

1<br> Why do plastic identification numbers exist?
prisoha [69]
They're called resin identification codes, and they indicate the type of plastic that an item is made from. These numbers alone do not indicate whether a package is recyclable, but can be used in conjunction with instructions from your community to help you know the types of plastics can be recycled where you live.

Earth's tilt over geologic time has stayed at 23.5 degrees since it was created. It has not varied.
Ipatiy [6.2K]

Answer:

b. False

Explanation:

  • Earths rotates on its axis that is tilted at 23.5° and is reconcile for different seasons on the planet. But the tilt in earth has not been the same since the formation of the planet that is about 4.5 billion years ago.
  • As the earth continued to evolve the Milankovitch cycle that is a cycle of f 40,000 years causes the planet to change its tilt. The tilt in the earth's axis varies from 22.5 to 24.5° and has done so in its geologic time.

itan's orbital radius is about 1222000 km and its orbital period is just under 16 days. From this information, estimate the mass
maksim [4K]

Answer:

5.67\cdot 10^{26} kg

Explanation:

For a satellite in orbit around a planet, the gravitational force between the planet and the satellite is equal to the centripetal force that keeps the satellite in circular motion.

So, we can write:

\frac{GMm}{r^2}=m\frac{v^2}{r}

where

G is the gravitational constant

M is the mass of the planet

m is the mass of the satellite

r is the orbital radius of the satellite

v is the speed of the satellite

The equation can be rewritten as

M=\frac{v^2r}{G}

Also, we can write the orbital speed as the ratio between the length of the orbit (circumference of the orbit) and orbital period, T:

v=\frac{2\pi r}{T}

Substituting into the equation for M,

M=\frac{4\pi^2 r^3}{GT^2}

Here we have:

r=1,222,000 km = 1.222\cdot 10^6 km = 1.222\cdot 10^9 m is the orbital radius

T=16 d \cdot 86400 s/d=1.38\cdot 10^6 s is the orbital period

Substituting, we find the mass of the Saturn:

M=\frac{4\pi^2 (1.222\cdot 10^9)^3}{(6.67\cdot 10^{-11})(1.38\cdot 10^6)^2}=5.67\cdot 10^{26} kg
