(THIS IS 100 POINTS!!!) Wow! You now know so much about Ecuador! Your friend David, however, knows nothing about it. In a few mo

nths, his family is going on a tour of Spanish speaking-countries, including Spain and several Central and South American countries. He has asked you to help him learn more about those places before his trip. His first trip is to Ecuador. Write David a three-paragraph letter in English, and compare Ecuadorian culture and American culture, especially in terms of foods, sports, transportation, population, and demographics. Answer:

Dear David,

How do you not know about Ecuador? My my, what things have you been missing out on! I will share the five most interesting things I have learned about Ecuador. Ecuador is the closest country to space. That's so cool! And Ecuador is also the only country in the world that is named after a geographical feature. The geographical feature it is named after is The Republic of the Equator. In Spanish, "The Republic of the Equator" is República del Ecuador. Ecuador also has the world's first UNESCO World Heritage Sites and had a long-standing border conflict with Peru. The country was also once joined with Colombia and Venezuela.

Three aspects of Ecuadorian culture that are similar to the United States are Ecuador is civilized and has cities. Ecuador is also very culturally active and into sports. On the other hand, three aspects of Ecuadorian culture that are different from the United States are that daily life moves at a slower pace in Ecuador. In the United States, people/couples are most likely to have more babies. Also, Ecuador is much more conservative than the United States.

Your Friend,
