Social Darwinism was the idea that, in society, some people are superior to others.
This theory was used to justify the idea that white Europeans were the proper rulers of Earth.
This theory encouraged imperialism because it served as a justification.
Why are we establishing all these colonies, taking over all these "primitive" countries?
Because it gives us power, and look at these "primitive savages"! They need us to help them!
