Climate and infrastructure played a big role of the survival of Soviet Union and the defeat of Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Climate especially the Winter bogged down and worn out the German army and also slowed the movement due to the cold and frigid temperature that made the fuel and guns frozen while in infrastructure the Russian follows the scorched-earth policy of sacrificing space for time and destroy buildings so that the Germans can't have the shelters in their invasion.
