Traditionally, this means that the state levels out the difference in economic power, which coincides with the difference between rich and poor, and thus puts an end to class society. A somewhat more modern interpretation is that full leveling is not necessary for the realization of a fair society, but almost every socialist theory assumes strong government intervention to solve social and societal problems and is characterized by a strong antipathy versus a free market. In that respect, socialism has traditionally been diametrically opposed to capitalism and liberalism. In turn, Communism is a group of closely related ideas that the means of production in a society are jointly owned. In Marxism, it is also the term for the state of social development where the classes and the state are dissolved and the production result is distributed to everyone as needed.
