Why does the king in "The Tortoise with a Pretty Daughter" make the law about daughters?
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

C). He is angry and disappointed with his son.

Explanation:

In reference to the Nigerian folktale 'The Tortoise with a Pretty Daughter', the chief reason for making the law regarding daughters by stating that 'any girl finer than fifty wives of the Prince shall be killed along with her parents' is that 'he is very angry and disappointed with his son' who did not like any of the fifty young wives offered to him by his father. In his wrath, he passed this law due to which the tortoise and his wife keep their daughter(who was very beautiful) hidden to guard her against this law. However, the prince falls in love with her later and gets married to her after a long battle with his father(due to the law passed by him). Thus, option C is the correct answer.

I need to know the correct grammar for this paragraph.
sveta [45]
Television shows about criminal investigations have been popular for years but, few viewers understand the intricacies of an actual crime scene investigation. If an autopsy is required masked forensic pathologists examine the body. The body -not the murder weapon- is the most important piece of evidence. The exact time of death cannot be known without a witness. A forensic pathologist, however, can estimate the time of death with certainty. Upon death, a human body begins to decompose. It goes through several stages of decomposition, knowing the time of death combined with other evidence, may shed light on the cause of death. Often the pathologist has crime scene information from detectives at the time of the autopsy. Legally, there are five causes of death: natural homicide, suicide, accident, and undetermined. Natural causes of death such as heart disease, cancer, and stroke account for more than half of the natural deaths in the United States annually. Criminal cases usually involve unnatural causes of death such as homicide, suicide, and accident.

"The Crucible" is an allegory, a symbolic story with different layers of meaning. Different characters and elements from "The Cr
cupoosta [38]

We can combine the elements of "The Crucible" with the elements of Red Scare/McCarthyism as follows:

 • A. Witchcraft = 6. Communism
 • B. Abigail Williams = 4. Senator McCarthy
 • C. The Devil's Book = 1. Blacklist
 • D. Salem Courts = 2. HUAC
 • E. John Proctor = 3. Arthur Miller
 • F. Hysteria = 5. The Red Scare
 • G. The Forest = 8. The Soviet Union
 • H. Accused Witches = 7. Suspected Communists

We can arrive at this answer because:

 • Arthur Miller, the screenwriter of "The Crucible" wanted to write a story that represented the moment of collective madness that was manifesting in the USA, due to fear of communism.
 • This wave of dread and madness was established by Senator McCarthy who started a wave of accusations from people involved in communism in the same way that Abigail Williams accused people of accusing people of witchcraft in play.
 • People accused of communism, who were tried by HUAC, are represented by people accused of witchcraft, who were tried by Salem Courts.
 • The Soviet Union was considered the cradle of communism and in the play, the forest was considered the place where witches arose.
 • For this reason, people became hysterical in fear of communism, just as in play people became hysterical in fear of witchcraft.
 • People accused of being involved in communism went into a kind of blacklist, just like in the play, where people accused of witchcraft are believed to have their name in the devil's book.

Arthur Miller set himself up as a play character, played by John Proctor, who tried to report on the abuses caused by Abigail, but ended up being heavily punished.
