Answer:

The inverse is f^{-1} (x) = (x+4)^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

(By the way, f^{-1}(x) is f negative one of x, like f(x), but inverse)

f(x) = \sqrt{x} - 4 is the same as y = \sqrt{x} - 4

y = \sqrt{x} - 4               start with the equation.

x = \sqrt{y} - 4               switch x and y.

x + 4 = \sqrt{y}              add 4 to both sides.

(x+4)^{2} = y             square both sides.

f^{-1} (x) = (x+4)^{2}    change y to the inverse f(x) format.

I hope this helps! :)

I believe you just plug 120 into x.
y = 44+0.6(120)
y = 116

Ideal weight is 116lbs

Please help me with 21 and 22! Thank you.

#21

To find the area of rectangle, you multiple length by width, so that would be (\ \sqrt{2x}\ )(\ \sqrt{6x}\ ) = \sqrt{2x\cdot6x} = \sqrt{12x^2} = x\sqrt{4\cdot3} = \boxed{2x\sqrt3}

Since we are talking about area \ length, x need to be positive so we don't need to worry about absolute value now.

#22

The area of triangle is \dfrac12bh, so that would be
\dfrac12\sqrt{18y}\cdot\sqrt{2y^4}\\\ \\=\dfrac{y^2}2\sqrt{18y}\cdot\sqrt{2}\\\ \\=\dfrac{y^2}2\sqrt{18y\cdot2}\\\ \\=\dfrac{y^2}2\sqrt{36y}\\\ \\=\dfrac{y^2}2\sqrt{4\cdot9\cdot y}\\\ \\=\boxed{3y^2\sqrt y}\text{ or }\boxed{3\sqrt{y^5}}

Hope this helps.

I only know of two measures of central tendency. Those are the median and the mean.

The mean is the average value of all numbers in the data set. It is adding up all the number and dividing it by the count of the data set.

The median is found as the middle most value of the data set that is arranged in ascending value.

In this scenario, it is better to use the MEDIAN in Cindy's report to the principal to portray her students in the most favorable manner. The median may either be a C or B. The F grade will not be considered.
