<em>External conflict displays a conflict or struggle between a character and an outside force which may be nature or other characters. This description is best justified by third option "looking for shelter during a thunderstorm" where the character has a clash with nature and he strives to combat this whereas the other three options exemplify the internal conflict</em> which lies inside the selves and emerges out of moral and ethical impasses. Thus, it may be concluded that the other third one illustrates the external conflict.
