Reread the beginning of Chapter Fourteen―the section in which the Giver shows Jonas what it’s like to have a broken leg. How doe
kobusy [5.1K]

It can be inferred that when Giver transmits some of his memory to Jonas, Jonas begins to feel some of the pain, Giver on the other hand begins to fell lighter. The above story is from "The Giver" by Lois Lowry.

What is the central idea of The Giver?

The importance of memory in human life is one of The Giver's most fundamental topics.

After visiting her aging father, who had lost much of his long-term memory, Lowry was inspired to create The Giver.

The Giver tells the narrative of a civilization where everything looks to be great, pleasant, and tranquil. There is no pain, sorrow, prejudice, bigotry, or anything else. It sounds fantastic, thanks in large part to the Sameness.

Unfortunately, the Sameness did not simply eliminate negative human feelings. The civilization does not know joy, pleasure, or love. In fact, when the people resolved to follow the Sameness, they even forgot about such things.

Jonas learns more about the Sameness and its consequences as he spends more time with the Giver. Jonas finally concludes that a civilization that lacks the ability to experience or recall any form of emotion isn't truly living.

Which claims against slavery are used in the speech? Check the three boxes that apply. Enslaved people hold productive occupatio
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

Explanation:

Let me Consider my city Chandrapur where the indicators of the poverty are lack of access to the health care , lack of job opportunities and illetracy level .

India is such a highly populated country but only limited access is available in the field of health care , where mostly rural and less developed regions are affected such as Chandrapur . Being one of the most polluted region in the world due to industrialization and generation of Electrical power , the Chandrapur suffers highly of respiratory and other health related issues such as Asthama , T.B skin cancer etc and because of the limited access to the healthcare only few of them are diagnosed and left are prone to danger throughout the life .

Being such a less developed region it is quite difficult to create job opportunities , even though a Engineering graduate doesn't get a proper job to feed his family for the livelihood . And as a result they step out of the City with less pay scale and more expenses .

Only 15% of the total population of Chandrapur is literate and have basic education where rest of the others always remains unaware about the basic policies and rights , As a result people in power takes this for granted and do corruption in their respective sectors . This leads to the increase in poverty for a generation.

One of main reason what I believe for the increase in poverty level is Social class. People who are wealthier than others tries to dominate the poor people and not let to access any facilities available . This is just because they want to keep a fluid boundary between them .

The poverty in this city can be address and eradicate by creating opportunities through drawing attention of the small and big Start ups in this city . Apart from this important participation should be laid on health sector by creating health campaigns in rural areas . Also literacy rate can be increased by investing in affordable, high-quality child care and early education .

In a team project to an important project for the organization, it is necessary that a leader has an integrated vision of the team. The strengths of a team leader are to systematize the team and employees so that there is integration of all members and the possibility for each one to participate equally with ideas and suggestions. The weaknesses of a team leader are not establishing effective communication with your team.

Communication is essential for the processes to be carried out in an expected manner and the objectives and goals achieved. Therefore, a leader must clearly communicate what is expected of each collaborator, offer and allow feedback on the work, encourage, motivate and integrate the team.

what was one of the themes in the book Twilight? describe how that theme was developed. 3 to 5 sentences please :)
Ne4ueva [31]
Major themes in the Twilight Saga include love, choice, and the battle between good and evil. Bella and Edward share a forbidden love complicated by the fact that Edward is a vampire. His heroic actions, including saving Bella's life on multiple occasions, make him the perfect boyfriend, and his beauty makes him a romantic ideal. He's also what would be considered a "good" vampire, because he and his coven drink animal blood instead of feeding on humans. Edward is pitted against James, the villain of the novel, who openly hunts humans, including Bella. James kidnaps and very nearly kills Bella, but Edward arrives at the last minute to save the day again. In the end, Bella must choose between being human or joining Edward in eternal life.

The themes that you could pull from the book for your paper are endless. This series has so many layers to this story that you could write a wonderful paper on the fist book alone. There's always the old standby of Good v. Evil. You have the Cullens v. the Volturi, Jacob v. Edward, James v. Edward. Who decides what makes someone good and someone else bad? Are there different levels of evil? Then there...

I think the most important theme of the Twilight series (especially in the early books) is the ethical choice that the Cullens make. They choose to deny their own nature in order to be moral people. There is also a lot of talk about the soul, and the question of whether vampires have souls (Edward doesn't think so, Carlisle believes they do).

In response to Jlcannad, I agree that the last book is very different from the first three. Part of me was happy that it everyone gets to live happily ever after and be fulfilled, but another part of me doesn't quite believe that everything would get wrapped up so nicely like that. I think there are a lot of conflicting ideas regarding the last book out there, but if Meyer had killed off Bella, think of how many angry fans there would be!

I agree that the Mormon concept of "agency" or choice is foremost in the first three books. Does Edward choose temptation or protecting Bella. Does Bella choose her vampire or her werewolf? Is it better to have true love or children? An education or immortal life? Freedom or love? There's always choice in the books, which is why the last book is just so odd. Jacob's choice is ripped from him when he imprints on Bella's child. Bella's need to choose is ripped away when she gets the vampire and a child. Her father... well, that thread just weirdly vanishes. I truly don't think the last book has anything to do with the first three.

Based on my reading of the books thus far, interviews of Meyers, and reviews of her series, the most important theme of her books deals with the choices we make in life. In one interview, Meyers says, "It doesn't matter where you're stuck in life or what you think you have to do; you can always choose something else. There's always a different path." This is seen in Edward's willingness to resist the temptation to bite Bella's neck, even though his desire to do so is great. Her characters choose to abstain from wrongdoing and show great self-restraint. It is the moral strength of her characters that draw many people to the books.
