Previously speaking soldiers would literally line up and hope that their bullets would hit, because they would take 30+ seconds to reload the entire firearm. Now that there are these improvements to combat, guns can be reloaded much faster, tanks can keep going even after being bombed, submarines can sink boats. It creates many more possibilities, and makes war need to be strategically planned out.
