(background info)
The colonial life in America was a very difficult time, the settlers came here the escape poverty, persecution, and to gain their own religious freedom. Then later on, there were the adventurous explorers and those sent by European Nations to began business ventures in this uncharted new land.
They eventually settled into the 13 colonies. They are now states known to be New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, and Georgia.
    (your answer)
The settlers had no idea on how to live in the rugged wilderness. They had no experience for the harsh, biter cold winters. They had no idea how to prepare, which caused some to die. Either from the cold or sickness, or the lack of resources that they could not get during the winters.
They faced many hardships such as knowing little about hunting (for game), or how to plant crops on the new soil. As a result, many succumbed to malnutrition and diseases.
For example, in Massachusetts, the Plymouth settlers spent most of the winters on board the Mayflower. It took a great time to clear the area, and get it set up for the following winters. Pilgrims were able to live on land but it was under extremely primitive conditions.<span> Many were sick and all were hungry. Nearly one-quarter of them died before a ship from England brought fresh supplies.
After Concerns of survival, came the Colonist desires and struggles to form a fair and democratic government. The tyranny that some of them came from made this priority. Those who survived had a very difficult life, but they had determination and committed faith that this would be a great land.
Many of them died before their time, for most of them their faith in god and bibles is what helped them persevere. They thanked god for sending the Indians to help them learn how to survive in the new lands.
