Read the paragraph. Our school is considering mandating school uniforms next year. The student government supports school unifor

ms for a number of reasons. First, school uniforms save time. Students will not have to figure out what they will wear and thus will have more time to devote to their studies. They will be more focused on learning and less on appearance. Second, although there are up-front costs, uniforms will ultimately save families money. Finally, uniforms will promote a sense of equality because students are dressed the same regardless of economic status. This will encourage a greater sense of community at our school. What strategy does the author use in her choice of language to convey her message?

The author gives a clearly biased opinion on the value of school students wearing uniforms and develops her argument logically giving the pros and cons of using uniforms The author says the students "will have more time to devote to studies" if not worrying about clothes,"be more focussed on learning and less on appearance" , "up front costs" and in the long term saving on money and "encouraging a greater sense of community" .

How would you compare Zimbardo's argument that situations cause people to act in bad
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

Nietzsche’s philosophical thoughts on morality argue that a moral code is not in our nature, while Zimbardo’s argument is that we shouldn’t expect our decisions to be influenced by morality alone. Nietzsche’s thoughts on morality are grounded in opposition to Christianity. He begins his argument by quoting from the Bible, “If thy eye offend thee, pluck it out,” before labeling the Christian idea as “stupidity” (Paragraph 1). Nietzsche argues that sensuality is in opposition to Christianity and that the church “always wanted the destruction of its enemies; we, we immoralists and Antichristians” (Paragraph 5), adding that “Life has come to an end where the ‘kingdom of God’ begins” (Paragraph 8). In contrast, Zimbardo

bases his argument on science and proposes that the electric shock

experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram “provides several lessons

about how situations can foster evil” (Paragraph 5). He also uses

conclusions from a 1974 experiment by Harvard anthropologist John

Watson, as well as his own simulated jail experiment, the 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment, to help support his argument.

Read the sentence below and answer the following question:
Alisiya [41]

The benefit of using "I found myself" rather than a more direct syntax is that it suggests the narrator traveled without thinking of the time.

This phrase conveys the idea that the narrator have unintentionally realized the situation he was witnessing, the view he could admire, etc. Because of this phrase, we may say that the narrator became aware of the situation that the author is describing rather unexpectedly, because he was not thinking of the time.

explain how Brooks's use of end-rhyme and internal-rhyme contributes to the overall meaning of the poem
Gwar [14]

Answer:

The difference between end rhyme and internal rhyme is where the rhyming words are placed.

Explanation:

In end rhyme, the rhyming words are placed at the end of two consecutive sentences. For example:

There once was a man who wasn't very smart.

For instance, he once tried to drive a shopping cart.

Internal rhyme, however, is different. There are three types of internal rhyme. The first is having two or more rhyming words appear in the same line. For example:

I went to town to buy a gown. / I took a car, it wasn't far.

Internal rhyme can also be two or more rhyming words in the middle of two consecutive sentences. For example:

I hear the seas calling my name, / the birds and bees beckoning me.

Finally, it can also be an ending word rhyming with a word in the middle of the next line. For example:

I once went to a soccer arena . / The teams were Argentina and Spain.

Hope this helps! I dont know what poem your talking about but hope you get it after this.
