In "Street farmer", the author Elizabeth Royte develops the idea that Will Allen is a pioneer in the urban farming industry not only by enumerating all the work he does in the farm, but also by telling the reader of his teaching of it: "Today Allen is the go-to expert on urban farming, and there is a hunger for his knowledge. When I visited Growing Power, Allen was conducting a two-day workshop for 40 people: each paid $325 to learn worm composting, aquaponics construction and other farm skills."
She also tells the reader of the foundation awards he has received and about the five-year research he did about worm compost making in Milwaukee’s winter, "learning their food and shelter preferences. “I’d run my experiments over and over and over—just like an athlete operates.”"
"I can't come with you as I am too busy."
Answer:
She used Imagery.
Imagery can be defined as the use of figurative languages to represent ideas, objects, and actions in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses.
The writer's use of this literary device will help the audience to understand that the way something looks may be described through the use of figurative languages (name calling).
The writer wants the audience to know that this name calling is indicative of their age. It is something that "children" do when they cannot think of anything else to argue but don't want to lose the linguistic war they have with each other through silence. She helps us to see that children believe that the name calling can hurt another child as much as anything else they could say or do, and it did hurts.
This is an example of a misplaced modifier. One instead could say, While I was playing basketball in the driveway, my ball was punctured by a cactus.
Hope this helps
Make sure you include all of the different ones such a s period or a comma and think of why you think it’s important like, “because if we didn’t have punctuation the sentences wouldn’t make sense and be scrambled” or anything else you can think of. Also take inspiration from actual newspaper articles. Hope this helps
