Answer:

Explanation:  The presence of resources such as gold and salt developed great kingdoms in West Africa because gold was abundant, and was exchanged for the salt brought by merchant caravans traveling from the north. Upon learning of the existence of large deposits of these mineral resources, nomadic peoples such as Berbers, were one of the first to settle there, thus forming the Kingdom of Ghana and appropriated trade routes and began to exploit them. Other kingdoms that were established were those of Mali and Songhai and the kingdoms of Hausa and Kanem-Bornus, where the Transaharan commerce had finally moved.
