Answer:

The indentured servants first arrived in US after the settlement of James town colony by Virginia company in 1607. The demand for indentured servant arose out the need for cheap labor. The earliest settlers had lots of land to cultivate and hence they needed people to work on those lands. The passage to colonies was expensive so the Virginia colony developed the system of indentured servitude for attracting the workers. Later they became important for colonial economy. The people came  to work in the colonies as indentured servants and accepted indentured slavery because it was better than slavery. <em>The indentured servants used to get some rights along with  the room, passage, board, lodging and freedom dues. Some of them used to earn their freedom. Some of the indentured contracts included 25 acres of land, cow, arms and new clothes</em>.
