A thesis statement: High stakes testing is not an accurate mean to measure an individual's skills.

Evidence:

  1. Testing may cause stress, which is a detrimental factor in a student's performance, hence students may score low under the pressure of commonly aclaimed importance of the results.
  2. It only tests a specific skills such as reading or finding information in a text, whereas a broad range of skills is omitted, such as lateral thinking or creativity.
  3. Scores might not be reliable- the performance hugely depends on emotional or mental state of a test-taker.

gulaghasi [49]

Answer:

He explains Hamlet’s behavior through Ophelia’s dialogue, thereby tying up loose ends in the plot.

Explanation:

Thanks to this excerpt, the reader is able to visualize a crucial situation between two characters in a specific point in the story.

Ophelia's horrified reaction to her encounter with Hamlet allowed for a very detailed and critical description of Hamlet's behavior and his then current state of mind, which might have been perceived as a loose end by the reader.
