9x + 5y = -154
4x + y = -22

9x + 5y = -154
20x + 5y = -110 (x5)

Then minus the bottom one from the top one, so at least one of the variables (x or y) cancel out, then you are left with : -11x = -44

Then solve :
-11x = -44
x = 4

Then put -4 back into x, into any of the first two equations

4(4) + y = -22
16 + y = -22
y = -38
