Read the following excerpt from Levitt and Dubner’s Freakonomics.
Tpy6a [65]

Based on the excerpt, the statement that best strengthens Feldman´s claim that people are mostly honest is b. Feldman´s payment system was largely successful. His payment system is based on honesty, because he leaves the bagels and a cash basket in which anyone who took a bagel would leave cash, even if people could take a bagel and not pay, or even take money out of the basket, that did not happen. As he says "it was an honor-system commerce scheme, and it worked."

During research, you read the following passage on a website:
Serga [27]

The correct answer is D. It is not a strong example of paraphrasing. It just rearranges the original words in a new order.

Explanation:

In writing, paraphrasing implies using the ideas of an external source and author and expressing them by using your own words, because of this a strong paraphrasing would change the language used but keep the essence and main points of the original ideas. In the excerpt presented, the author tried to paraphrase a passage that describes cone snails. However, in the passage paraphrased the author uses the same terms and words than in the original passage which means he or she is not expressing the ideas of the original passage with his or her own words but only changing the order of ideas the text and therefore this is not a strong paraphrasing and can even be considered a plagiarism as the same words and ideas are being used. Therefore, this text can be described as "It is not a strong example of paraphrasing. It just rearranges the original words in a new order".

polet [3.4K]

Answer:

Thomas Paine (1737-1809) was an American political activist, theorist, and a philosopher. Paine is the author of the famous pamphlets, including "The Age of Reason", "Rights of Man" (defending the French Revolution), and "Common Sense" (written during the American Revolution). Paine is believed to have inspired the patriots, his intended audience, to become independent from Great Britain in 1776. His writing style is often characterized by arrogance, as in pamphlet series An American Crisis.

Anne Bradstreet (1612 - 1672) was a poet and the first woman in America to write a book of poems. When she began writing, her poems were meant to educate her children about the hardships she went through. Her husband and children were her only audience, but she gradually became popular in her society. She wrote warm, love poems for her husband and children, but also religious poems. In some of her works, we can clearly notice her sarcastic tone towards the society and its norms.
