Why would this piece be considered pop art?​

Pop art is characterized by vibrant, bright colors. So initially, things that would literally appear so bright and colorful they just “pop” out! Putting typically bad pop art jokes aside, this piece would be considered pop art due to its vibrant colors, specifically yellow, red, and blue. Yellow, red and blue were colors used most often (and initially all the time) in pop art due to how vibrant they are. In this piece of art, the yellow red and blue color scheme can be recognized.

Additionally, pop art is culturally distinct, specifically in fields like entertainment and product advertisement. Think Andy Warhol and the neon portraits of Marylin Monroe, or Campbell’s soup. In this pic, you can see the allusion to vintage romances in Hollywood. With the drama, and the Marylin Monroe-like woman finding comfort in the man- as would be seen in a “traditional” or romanticized relationship in American culture.
