What you need to do is go back through the story and highlight or underline points where the narrator is talking about or interacting with the ocean. Put them all on a list. Do most of them mean fear? Respect? Awe? What ever it is, that's how the narrator feels. Put a check next to all of them that correlates with how (s)he feels.

(If most of them suggest he is scared of the ocean, but not all of them, it is safe to assume he is afraid of the ocean. Check all of the lines that show his fear of the ocean)

You then just need to state "The narrator is _____ to the ocean" or "The narrator feels ____ about the ocean." Your proof is the lines you have checked.

I hope that this has helped!
