The sketch is great! Since Shiro is traditionally dressed in purple, black, and white, I think a purple and yellow color scheme would work. If you want to do analogous pastel teal, pastel skyblue, and pastel purple work well.
I believe it became popular in 1928( when it first came out) and it's still used today by orchestras. Hope that helped!
