Michelle Obama grew up in a middle-class family on the South Side of Chicago. She was born right after the Civil Rights Act, which banned all discrimination on the basis of gender, age, skin color, etc. was passed, which had a significant influence on her.

She lived in a close-knit family and she was really close with both of her parents, which had a huge effect on her identity as she is known to be a family-oriented person who fights to give good living conditions to many families throughout America and the world.

She did experience some discrimination in her early childhood, but hearing the experiences of her grandparents in particular played a huge role in her desires to eradicate discrimination altogether.

All in all, all of these elements and many more created the person that Michelle Obama is today, which is a powerful and commendable woman.
