Why was the southern part of egypt referred to as "upper eagypt" and vice versa?
lesya [120]
Hello there!

Back in the days of the early Egyptians, they did not know about "north" or "south." Due to this, they did not think to orient their kingdom in the way we do now. They took the Nile River, which flows from south to north as their reference. Therefore, the southern part was known as "Upper Egypt" while the northern region was called "Lower Egypt."

I hope this helps!

Chapter 6 problem: What is the damage one can expect from a catastrophic hurricane? Give a detailed list from your text.
Firlakuza [10]

Answer:

-Homes destroyed

-Fallen trees and power poles

-Power outages

-Uninhabitable area

Explanation:

The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale is a 1 to 5 rating based on a hurricane's sustained wind speed, which is useful to estimates the potential property damage. From category 3 and higher, we consider them major hurricanes because of their potential for significant loss of life and damage.

Category 4 (209-251 km/h) and category (252 km/h or higher) hurricanes can cause catastrophic damages, these include high percentage of framed homes will be destroyed (total roof failure and wall collapse), fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas, power outages that last for weeks to months and most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!

Scientists collect current data about the Earth’s surface temperatures in all the following ways except: a. land-based meteorolo
Ierofanga [76]

Scientists collect current data about the Earth’s surface temperatures in all the following ways except:

c. air bubbles that form in winter ice

Explanation:

Out of the given options this one is the most outlandish as there will be too many variables in play in here if the people are to try to compute the data for meteorological department regarding the temperatures.

These air bubbles do not give an accurate temperature for the surface they are on encase they are insulated and they are also difficult or impossible to control.

much better ways are there to use on the snow instead of this which includes land based stations.
