I would propose lowering the voting age to 16. I believe that a voting age of 18 is not appropriate to the type of society that we have nowadays. In modern American society, people who are 16 and 17 are often quite mature and engaged in public life. They follow the news and are well-informed. Moreover,  many teenagers are affected by many of the subjects that are relevant during an election, such as climate change or gun control. An example of this would be that of environmental activist Greta Thurnberg, or Natalie Barden, who became a gun control activist after losing her brother at the Sandy Hook shooting.
