Answer:

Sandia National Laboratories has been serving as a national defence R and D labs for last fifty years. It started in 1945 in New Mexico and was part of Manhattan Project which built the first nuclear weapons. The project helped US to gain advantage during the second world war and also during the cold war as it was the only country that had atom bombs. It was funded by US department of Energy for designing non-nuclear weapons for nuclear weapons of US. It has been preserving the national security by working with various industry groups and departments of US government.
