Who-or-what-is-responsible-for-the-tragic-ending-of-the-novel-the-great-gatsby?
Evgesh-ka [11]

It is perhaps Tom who is responsible for the tragic ending of the Great Gatsby.

Explanation:

Great Gatsby is a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The novel ends by the death of three main characters who are Gatsby, Myrtle, and George Wilson. Tom was the one who informed Wilson about the death of his wife and which is why Wilson killed the main title character Jay Gatsby.

Great Gatsby had a very sad ending, and probably every character from the novel had an unfortunate role. Since the beginning of the novel Gatsby took a lot of efforts to fulfill his dreams but all his efforts went in vain in the end.

After reading The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, why could the reader consider Brutus the protagonist of the play?
Naya [18.7K]
I believe B is not the correct answer - C. Brutus' story is the focus of the play is.

A is definitely incorrect because both his story and his actions greatly impact the play - he is the one who decided to have Caesar murdered, after all. I don't think B is correct either - even though he did kill Caesar, he is not a classic villain. He is not evil, he did not kill him because he hated him, he killed him because it had to be done - he believed Caesar was on the path of becoming a tyrant. So he killed him to save Rome, which is not a villainous thing to do. D is also incorrect because Brutus is one of the main characters, if not the main character.
