Civil law is indeed heavily inspired by Roman Law. After the Fall of the Roman Empire, it survived thanks to the continued presence of the Catholic Church and its influence on law-making during the Middle Ages. During these times, civil law saw an expansion and development under the influence of ecclesiastic Canon law. It also continued existing during the Byzantine Empire up until the 15th century. When that Empire fell, its scholars would free and spread its principles all over Western Europe. It was a source of inspiration for laws when common laws proved insufficient on some cases and situations. Its influence started to be greater and greater and it finally became the main source of law for most European countries though adapted to their particular national contexts. It was codified by Germanic scholars and also underwent even more codification and development during the Enlightenment Period. It has been adopted by most countries in Continental Europe whereas in the United Kingdom, it is Common Law that prevails as the source of legislation. Even Japan, during the Meiji period decided to use it as the source of its modern legal system (mainly inspired by the legal systems of France and Germany).

Where can Montesquieu and Locke’s ideas be found?
Elis [28]

The correct answer is; The United States Constitution.

Further Explanation:

Both Montesquieu and Locke can be described as enlightenment philosophers. They both had ideas and theories on how the government should be used to govern the citizens. When the writers of the constitution were gathered together, they put their theories in the constitution.

The Spirit of the Laws was written by Baron de Montesquieu. He published the book in 1748. The Two Treatises of Government of was written by John Locke. The book was published in 1689. He initially had the book published anonymously because he wasn't happy with that particular edition. He did not like the spelling errors and other printing errors. He had one other edition printed before his death but was still not fully happy. He hand edited the third edition and gave it to his friends to get published. He died before seeing the last edition published.

Colt1911 [192]

Answer:

Both concepts are interrelated.

Manifest Destiny is a doctrine that believes that United States has the right to expand accross the continent toward the west, toward the Pacific Ocean, as a design of Providence. Expansionism is a set of policies and actions of territorial acquisition and aggrandizement. These ideas or conceptions drove many of the USA actions and policies in the 19th century, and they were pursued with consistence by different administrations throughout the century. The USA finally reached its goal of extending its territory to the Pacifc shores after defeating Mexico in 1848 and forcing it to cede a huge territory that included California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and parts of Colorado.

The correct answer should be D: to use military ships to sink German submarines

They were extremely fast and small ships that carried torpedoes and the idea behind them was to get close to the enemy, blast them with torpedoes, and run away. They were really successful at this and they often fought the huge warships or submarines with ease and without any losses.
