Answer:

x^2+8x+12

Step-by-step explanation:

The area of a rectangle formula is length times width.

The length of this rectangle is (x+2), and the width of this rectangle is (x+6)

Thus, the area of the rectangle is (x+6)(x+2). This can be expanded using FOIL.

First x(x)=x^2

Outer x(2)=2x

Inner 6(x)=6x

Last 6(2)=12

The two x terms combine, making 8x, and the answer is x^2+8x+12

The perimeter of a movie screen is 54 meters. The screen is 18 meters wide. How tall is it?
Roman55 [17]
Assuming the movie screen is rectangular, the answer would be 8 meters tall. Because the perimeter is 2 times width plus 2 times height, you can subtract 36 (18 times 2) from 54. This leaves you with 18, which is 2 times height. Divide both by two and you get 9
