Warm climate with not too much rain because rice originates from tropical lowlands which are warm. It can also grow in nighttime as long as it doesn't go below 60 degrees because that would be too cold. It also does not need too much water to grow, over watering the plant can stunt the growth, but letting the soil dry out will dry out the nutrients that the rice needs to grow.
