It’s easy to understand why multiple bands would be present in the lanes containing DNA that has been cut with restriction enzym

es, but why do you think there are several bands present in the lanes containing undigested (uncut) pGLO DNA? What do these bands represent?

Answer:

These bands represent different confirmation of DNA

Explanation:

pGLO DNA is a plasmid DNA that is used as a vector for genetic engineering. Plasmid DNA is found in supercoiled confirmation in vivo. The double helix forms extra twists to easily fit inside the cells. During isolation of plasmid from the cell, nicks can be introduced in the DNA due to harsh isolating methods or contamination by nuclease. As a result the supercoiled confirmation is changed into circular confirmation. It is bulkier than the supercoiled form and travels more slowly. When both DNA stands get cut at the same place, the DNA gets liner confirmation. In the end, supercoiled DNA runs the fastest on gel followed by linear DNA and then the circular DNA.

Cellular respiration

Explanation:

 • Cellular respiration is defined as a ATP generating process in which organic molecule is oxidized and inorganic molecule is final electron acceptor
 • Pain experienced in leg muscles is the result of formation of lactic acid in muscle cells
 • Under low oxygen, NADH cannot be reoxidized to NAD+ but NAD+ is required as an electron acceptor to continue glycolysis
 • In lactic acid fermentation pyruvate is the final electron acceptor and converted in lactate
 • Reaction catalyzed by lactate dehydrogenase
 • The pain in her chest is caused from the lack of oxygen she received while running so her chest starts to heavily breathe so that the lungs can receive as much oxygen possible

He portion of the membrane that faces the lumen is called the ________ membrane.
irina1246 [14]

The portion of the membrane that faces the lumen is called the apical membrane.

Membrane is the lipid bilayer that surrounds the cell on its outer surface. The membrane serves various functions like: protection, cell shape and integrity and regulate the traffic of molecules across the membrane. It is semi-permeable in nature.

Lumen is the hollow portion present inside any organ or tube like the artery or intestine. It is a Latin word that means 'an opening'. The lumen of different organs served various purposes. However, the major function is the transport of substances like air, nutrients, waste materials, immune cells, hormones, etc.
