"Ich am Kuhl" is not proper grammar and doesn't exists. 

If you want to say "I am cold/cool" you should say "Mir ist kalt/kuhl" 

You cannot use "Ich bin kalt/kuhl" because that literally means you are cold...Literally... and if you are physically cold you are probably dead. So don't use that if you are simply want to express that you are feeling cold.

First a quick overview of the four Greman cases:
Nominativ  = Subject
Dativ = indirect Object
Akkusativ = direct object
Genitiv  = Ownership
Her is a sentence that uses all four cases:
Ich gebe dem Mann das Buch meines Vaters.
Ich = Nominativ
dem Mann = Dativ - indirect object
das Buch = Akkusativ - direct object 
meines Vaters - Genitiv - ownership
