A cultural event that happens in the film is the culminations of amalgam of different cultures in Rick’s bar. The German carriers is also a very political, the reaction of peoples throughout the city shows the control of the Germans and the reach throughout the city. The social event, though not really an event is when the camera man pans around to different conversations happening in Ricks bar, which shows us how desperate the people are to get to America
