Iodine and potassium form an ionic bond. Iodine has seven electrons in its outer shell, and potassium has one electron in its ou

ter shell. Which conclusion is best supported by this information? Iodine is a noble gas. Potassium is a nonmetal. Iodine becomes an ion with a negative 1 charge. Potassium becomes an ion with a positive 7 charge.

Answer;

Iodine becomes an ion with a negative 1 charge.

Explanation;

-Ionic bond is a type of bond that is formed between a metal and a non-metal. It involves the transfer of electrons between atoms and occurs when a metal transfers valence electrons to non metal. The result is that the metal looses electrons to form a positively charged ion (cations) and non metals gains electrons to form negatively charged ions (anions).

-In this case, potassium looses one electron forming a cation with a positive 1 charge. While Iodine which is a halogen gains an electron to form an anion with a negative 1 charge. Both atoms thus achieve the octet rule, where each atom has maximum number of electrons in each energy level.

How many oxygen atoms are in 6 co2 and 6 h2o
Sliva [168]
There would be 18 oxygen atoms total in CO2 and H2O.
2 oxygen atoms per CO2, times 6 because there are six CO2 molecules, plus 6 times 1 oxygen atom in H2O.
