Answer:

Plessy v. Ferguson

Explanation:

Plessy v. Ferguson was a landmark 1896 U.S. Supreme Court decision that upheld the constitutionality of racial segregation under the “separate but equal” doctrine.

The case stemmed from an 1892 incident in which African American train passenger Homer Plessy refused to sit in a car for blacks.

Ferguson, at the Louisiana Supreme Court, arguing that the segregation law violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which forbids states from denying "to any person within their jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws," as well as the Thirteenth Amendment, which banned slavery.

Today we can use transportation and go to schools equally. This played a role in the Brown vs. Board of Education (1954) by the "separate but equal" law mentioned by Plessy and established that the "separate but equal' law is not equal.

Why did the United States suffer a loss of confidence following the launch of Sputnik 1?
jolli1 [7]

The correct answer is B. The United States assumed that they would be first into space, before the Soviets.

Explanation:

During the Cold War, there was a strong dispute between the United States and the Soviet Union to develop spatial technology and send rockets, satellites, and similar to the space. In this context, the U.S. leaders and scientists strongly believed the U.S. would be the first one into space because there had been huge advancements in this area. However, in 1957 the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, which was the first satellite in the space. Additionally, this unexpected victory of the Soviet Union caused a loss of confidence in the United States.
