Answer:

The correct answer is C. Louis XIV is considered a perfect example of an absolute monarch because he held all power in France and claimed to represent God on Earth.

Explanation:

Louis XIV was king of France and Navarre from 1643 until his death in 1715.  He became king at the age of four. Cardinal Mazarin led French politics during the underage of Louis, continuing the policies of Cardinal de Richelieu. Louis XIV was crowned at the age of sixteen, but only after the death of Mazarin in 1661 he took over the reign himself. He carried out centralist reforms, by which the nobility lost a significant amount of their power in exchange for a seat at the king's court in the newly built Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV is often seen as the ultimate example of an absolute monarch.

By means of wars with foreign powers, in particular Spain, the German Empire and the Dutch Republic, Louis XIV managed to push the northern and southern borders of France on German, Dutch and Spanish territories. The many wars that Louis fought left the French state almost bankrupt.
