Please note that I have not read the story.

Out of the three choices presented (A, B, C), I feel that B is the most suspenseful, as it inspires a sense of curiosity and wondering about the three figures.

How does cisneros use imagery to characterize salvador in "Salvador, late or early"
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

In the short story “Salvador Late or Early”, by Sandra Cisneros, Cisneros uniquely describes the main character Salvador. She uses detail, imagery, and diction to characterize Salvador in her short story. When she was describing Salvador, she makes it very simple to recognize the advance detail put in. In the first sentence, she stuffs and fills it with details, details, details, but also leaves you wanting to read more and more, leaving a complete description half empty, but full enough to question and want more. She narrates the passage, and tells the reader about Salvador’s eyes being the “color of caterpillar”. First, it makes you think, and even start to draw a picture of what it might look like in your head. Then she speaks, as if she is a bad conscience, a mean and almost bully like, and says that Salvador is a “boy who is no one’s friend”. Harsh much? She talks about how sad of a life he is having and puts details enough to make you have a deep emotion. Cisneros characterizes Salvador her best as she writes in great imagery.

Read the excerpt from "A Genetics of Justice” by Julia Alvarez.
svetlana [45]

The correct answer to which statement correctly analyzes how passages A and B work together to create a central idea is B. Alvarez contrasts her mother's insistence on silence with her own desire to tell stories.

When the author says that the moment she learned how to talk caused a rupture in a silence established by her mother, and also a downturn in what her mother would consider good behavior, she conveys that they were opposites in that aspect. Although she carried her mother's name, the moment she learned how to talk she became her mother's contrast - someone who wanted to talk and express her ideas and opinions. This contrast reflected in arguments and discussions she tells the reader about. Then, in passage B, Alvarez tells the reader that when she became a writer she kept on using her mother's name, therefore emphasizing their differences. So, the correct answer to which sentence would best explain how passages A and B work together to create a central idea is B. Alvarez contrasts her mother's insistence on silence with her own desire to tell stories.

The correct option couldn't be A. Alvarez describes how her good behavior was an issue, or a thorn, for her mother because what was considered good behavior by her mother, according to her, wasn't the issue or the thorn mentioned. On the contrary, Alvarez would have stopped behaving well the moment where she began talking, and that was an issue or thorn in her relationship with her mother. So, the correct answer couldn't be A. Alvarez describes how her good behavior was an issue or a thorn.

The correct answer couldn't be C. Alvarez explains how her mother’s desires and temperament were similar to her own because, on the contrary, her desires were opposite to her mother's, according to what she tells the reader. She had the will to speak and pronounce herself, while her mother appreciated silence as good behavior. Moreover, they fought a lot for that same reason. Thus, the correct answer couldn't be C. Alvarez explains how her mother’s desires and temperament were similar to her own.

The correct answer couldn't be D. Alvarez traces how her childhood behavior led her to become a successful writer because there is no mention in any of the passages about how her behavior would have directly led her to become a successful writer, although it is clear that her wish of sharing and telling stories starts in her childhood. So, the correct answer couldn't be D. Alvarez traces how her childhood behavior led her to become a successful writer.
