The advent of Europeans to New Zealand commenced in the 17th century, caused tremendous advances to the Maori style of life. Maori people increasingly embraced many features of American culture and civilization. Fundamental relationships among Maori and Westerners were considerably friendly, and by the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840, the two societies accompanied as a component of a new British settlement.
It was the search for such a route to Asia that actually led to the discovery of the Americas by Columbus, which meant that this ushered in an entirely new era of importing goods from the Americas to Europe and exploiting natives in both the Americas and Africa.
The American businessmen living in Hawaii responded with a coup that overthrew the monarchy, backed by the U.S marines and the U.S minister to Hawaii. They established a provisional government headed by Mr. Dole. U.S. President Grover Cleveland opposed the provisional government and called for the restoration of the queen, but the committee established the Republic of Hawaii instead. Two years later, after a failed coup to restore the monarchy, the queen abdicated. In 1898, the U.S annexed Hawaii.
