The Constitution shows democratic principles in the way representatives are chosen through election by the people.

Further Explanation:

Difference between a republic and a democracy:

In both a republic and a democracy, citizens are empowered to participate in are presentational political system. ... Instead, it is a hybrid democratic republic. The main difference between a democracy and a republic is the extent to which the people control the process of making laws under each form of government.

Republican and Democratic parties switch:

So, sometime between the 1860s and 1936, the (Democratic) party of small government became the party of big government, and the (Republican) party of big government became rhetorically committed to curbing federal power. Only gradually did Republican rhetoric drift to the counterarguments.

Democratic republican mean:

Definition of Democratic-Republican: of or relating to a major American political party of the early 19th century favoring a strict interpretation of the Constitution to restrict the powers of the federal government and emphasizing states' rights.

Democrats Blue and Republicans red:

Indeed, until the 1980s Democrats were often represented by red and Republicansby blue. According to The Washington Post, the terms were coined by journalist Tim Russert during his televised coverage of the 2000 presidential election.

Many delegates from the constitutional convention had were not sure about Democracy as they thought that it Promoted Anarchy. To clear these fears, the government weakened the tenancies of the democracy which were seen as Undermining the republic.

Further Explanation:

Government wanted to avoid giving too much of power to the people in terms of elections as government dint wanted president to be elected directly by people. So to avoid this issue, what government did was that it made certain that Senators will be chosen directly by legislatures instead of getting directly elected by the people through process of voting. Though direct election of senators was added in the constitution by ratification in seventeenth amendment of the constitution which took place in year 1913. But before this amendment took place, as a safety measure, Electoral collage was created by delegates which was the mechanism through which the President of the country was chosen. According to this electoral college, Each state had a certain number of electors which was said to the number of Senators which used to be two in every state along with this the number of representatives and they would vote on behalf of people the President of the country. By this process the direct election of the President could be prevented and people would not have all the power to decide and in simple words the power of people were divided as they used to elect senators but senators used to elect President.
