Following the discovery of the new continent of America, many things changed with the slave trade. While it was banned in East Africa around that period, it changed the final destination were slaves were shipped. Some were shipped to India by the British seaman, however, as time progressed, more and more slaves were being shipped into the newly formed country of US (this happened a couple of centuries later though).

What was the end result of the proposal illustrated in this cartoon?
Schach [20]

The correct answer is A) No changes were made to the Supreme Court.

The end result of the proposal illustrated in this cartoon is no changes were made to the Supreme Court.

At the end of the 1930’s Franklin D. Roosevelt wished to restrict the age of the members of the Court in order to change it to support rulings on the New Deal Legislation. With the “court-packing plan” of 1937, President Roosevelt wanted to appoint up to six judges to the Supreme Court for every judge older than 70 years old.

That is why on February 14, 1937, a political cartoon with the title “Do we want a Ventriloquist Act in the Supreme Court?” appeared in the news. It was a critic of Roosevelt’s New Deal. In the cartoon appears President Roosevelt with six new judges in the form of puppets, laughing in front of Uncle Sam.

How should the world respond to the threat of the Islamic state?
Lelu [443]

Negotiation is the main output. They should join the countries that have been victims of this group and seek solutions through peaceful means. The above is achieved with sufficient commitment. It is a titanic task but not impossible. The largest number of nations in the world must be allied to coordinate actions of a military nature. One can also think of a diplomatic solution to the eventual failure due to possible military action.
