Police Officer Asia is on patrol after school one afternoon. He is across the street from the local middle school when he sees a young boy point what appears to be a gun at another young boy. PO Asia takes out his gun and shoots at the young boy who is holding the gun. He hits him in the thigh and the young boy falls to the ground. PO Asia runs across the street and approaches the fallen boy to discover that the gun is nothing more than a toy. He calls for an ambulance to transport the young boy to a hospital. The young boy recovers nicely. His parents want PO Asia to be prosecuted. Should this occur? Explain your reasoning.
