if you mean screen time as in what i do on my phone here’s an answer:

on my phone, my parents let me use my own icloud account and my own app store and don’t need to verify anything i get. i’m also allowed to have online friends as they know i don’t get involved with anything sketchy and my search history isn’t monitored. every once in a while they go through everything- all my texts, photos etc, but it’s not too often and they don’t monitor what i do in between the times they go through it. i’m not allowed to talk about anything personal, put any personal information out there, or share anything that’s private about my family. but mostly what i’m not allowed to do is common sense.

Write a narrative which includes the words, 'I was so focused'.
Rashid [163]

Feel free to change anything that is not to your taste.

Answer and Explanation:

I was so focused I couldn't hear the cries and screams at first. It took me a couple of minutes to realize some building were in flames, lighting up like torches, illuminating the streets and the people below. I looked at the sky again, mesmerized by the size of the ships, fascinated by their unusual colors and appearance. Someone tugged my shirt and yelled “run”. I ran.

So this is what it felt like. The invasion so many art works had predicted. All those books and movies, all the effects to portray the appalling destruction we would face. Well, they were not wrong. Here they finally were – the others, the aliens. I wondered for an instant what they looked like, only to realize I would most likely never know. They were trying to kill me. They were trying to kill everyone. They were going to succeed.

We fought back, you see. And by “we” I don’t mean us, the citizens on the streets who had gone out to meet friends and lovers, to grab a bite and a beer. I mean our governments, our military forces. All to no avail; they were as doomed as the rest of us. Only we were going to die screaming in fear, while they were going to go in a glorious final moment of bravery and patriotism. It was death all the same.

No one is ready for an apocalypse. There are no bunkers, no safe houses or basements, no effective weapons just lying around, waiting to be used against extraterrestrials. I was not sure what to do, so I chose to keep on running for as long as I could to wherever looked safer. At a corner, I picked up a puppy that seemed too young to understand why so many humans were crazily darting by. I tucked it under my shirt, held it as safely and comfortably as was possible under such dire circumstances, and kept running.

Then, it was all over. The attacks ceased, the ships withdrew, the aliens left. What was that all about? The next morning, the puppy and I watched the news together – I was shocked at their professionalism; my mental state was far from balanced enough to go back to work, yet those reporters never even stopped. It was all a demonstration of power. They wanted us to know we are the weak ones. Apparently, there was no intention of colonizing our planet; or at least not for now. But we were to obey, to listen to their instructions, to heed their orders. They said it was for our own good. How ironic...
