They play a central role in land preparation and harvest. Also they provide an important food reservations like meat, milk derivatives, eggs, etc...

Explanation:

The first well established agricultural communities were in a symbiotic relation with many farm animals like horses, donkeys or any creature that enables to carry a lot of weight for making a more efficient production that provided enough food in times of droughts. Also the breeding of pigs and chicken provide for sure the food that we need, and the fertilizer for growing up vegetables comes from the faeces of this creatures.
