School is not preparing students for the real world, much of the material is outdated and there is a lack of education that can be transitioned into the real world. Kids come out of school and don't even know every right that they have, or how to speak a foreign language, or even how to balance a checkbook. These are all basic skills and in the world we are living in today they are all necessary, there is only a select group of people who will ever use something like the Pythagorean Theorem after they finish high school math. The syllabus for many schools remains the same year after year and we learn the same things that our parents and their parents have learned even though we live in a time where technological advancements have changed the way the world works. 

Not a full essay but a couple of points to think about and expand upon if you choose to go in this direction.

Just start with what school is or why were schools invented. then towards your middle paragraph talk about the real life problems that you would talk about inside a math or science class
