The stage is experienced by middle-aged people: people who are between 35 to 43 years of age. In the image attached below this can be seen clearly.

This age coincides with the attainment of higher career goals for many individuals. By this age, people who have become part of the middle and upper middle class are likely to have completed tertiary education, both undergraduate and graduate.

However, some middle-aged people do not achieve those milestones, and this lack of perceived success can lead to depression. Lots of middle-aged people become depressed when they feel that they will not be able to attain their life's goals.
